Hello race fans, we are heading
down the home stretch. Edith and I are staying the night in Bloomington,
Illinois (1-309-828-6000, room 309). This morning we went to Fr. Flannigan’s
Boys Town. It was very nice and it tells an interesting story. My video camera
didn’t work; I got the message “DEW WARNING”, which stopped the camera’s
operation. I could talk about the humidity, but I expect that everyone has his
or her own story.
Besides the huge cattle feed
lots, Omaha is also the home of Warren Buffett. Since I’m a good friend, I
stopped and asked him to review my investment holdings. He was still laughing
uncontrollably when I left. I think that means that he believes that I did a
good job.
Edith and I thought that Iowa
had the best looking landscape of all the Great Plain states that we traveled
through. The fields were lush and the soybeans were a beautiful shade of green.
If anyone has concerns on a Y2K shortage of Corn Flakes, rest easy. Iowa’s
loaded with the stuff.
All in all, our three-week
vacation was a nice one. It gave Edith and me a chance to discuss all those
little issues that we tend to gloss over because of every-day routines. (I was
fairly successful, however, in avoiding lengthy discussions on new kitchen
cabinets). If anyone is curious about Edith’s injury, it now looks like autumn
(I’ll be glad when winter returns, you know, white, like the driven snow).
We usually started to write a
journal on each of our vacations but never finished them. For some reason, we
were able to write a little something on each day of our Colorado trip. I hope
that you liked hearing from us. If not, it only took a click of the Delete key.
I’m sure that we will say, “there’s no place like home” as we drive up
Hillbrook Drive tomorrow. We always do.
The end.
