I think Carl told you that I took a graceful step off the curb at Our Lady of Knock. My ankle is a little swollen and going through the color changes that some of you may remember when I fell on my behind in Colorado.
Anyway, as my traveling companion in Italy, Pat, will remember, these guided tours that go nonstop from 7 am until 11. Today was another 7-hour bus trip around the Ring of Kerry. Using my swollen ankle as my excuse, I stayed back today. I slept until 1 and then walked into town to shop (my ankle is not THAT bad!) I had 3 pastries and tea in a bakery and now am back on my way to the street of shops. It is so hard to take time to look at things with Carl looking over my shoulder. I always figure that what he doesn't know won't hurt him, so I charge on my Visa or have the items sent.
The people are wonderful -- kind and friendly to everyone. We read in a tour book that Irish look on a stranger and a gift -- with the potential to add happiness and laughter to their lives. It has been a great time, but I am glad we are coming home tomorrow. For the kids from St. William, I think of you often and I will have stories to share with you when I get back.
As tomorrow is my flight, I will have to start my routine to get "un-nervous" tomorrow morning! The food and drink here are excellent. I have learned a new drink to teach Herb at the Kohl Haus. It is called a shandy and it is half beer and half 7-Up. I really like it. Carl says it tastes like a light beer, but he really enjoys the stronger Guinness. I hope to see many of you soon and the rest of you in August.
Love, Edith
